Fall is a Great Time to Walk

This picture is just one of the many beautiful scenes on my morning walks.

I love fall. The colors, the smells, the active wildlife all make for inspiring walks.

I hope you make the time to get out and walk in Nature. It is so good for our mental health and we all know how good it is for our physical health.

Don't let Autumn pass you by without going out and admiring all the beautiful scenes.

This is my walking buddy. Having a buddy, whether 2 legged or 4 legged, to walk with keeps you motivated and makes it more enjoyable.

They say if you have a fat dog, there is someone in the house who isn't walking enough!

Happy Fall!

Julie

Project MAHMA Thursday Opportunity Conference Call

Call Information
Thur., October 23, 2014
6:00 p.m. Pacific
7:00 p.m. Mountain
8:00 p.m. Central
9:00 p.m. Eastern
DIAL: 212-990-8000
(PIN: 6262#)
Tune in Thursday night for another inspiring Project MAHMA call. Our host is Susan  from Hawaii.

Susan learned about Shaklee through Shaklee’s appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show® “Favorite Things” episode. She googled "Shaklee Honolulu" to find an independent distributor and she found her upline business Leaders who just happened to live down the street! “The more I used the products, the more I loved them,” says Susan. “I decided to join as a Distributor because I saw a tremendous opportunity to earn immediate and residual income from doing what I would do naturally -- share something I love with the people I care about.”

Joining Susan are Hope, NJ and Kathleen, CA
Hope is a devoted and passionate mother and pioneer to her family, friends, and anyone with whom she comes in contact. Shaklee has made such a positive impact on her life, not only its products but also its philosophy and mission, that Hope is committed to sharing Shaklee as a vehicle for making a positive difference in the world, one person at a time.

Kathleen was introduced to Shaklee about two years ago and joined as a Member. She was impressed by Shaklee's commitment to the environment and to products that are safe, green and that work. After learning more about the income opportunity and how to build a Shaklee business from her upline Leaders, Kathleen realized that Shaklee was the company she’d been looking for and she upgraded to Distributor a few months ago. She’s excited to be on this path and looks forward to being a future Shaklee success story.

If you are experiencing this problem, let us show you how to put that extra $300-$500 in your pocket each and every month.

You can do this. We can help.

Project MAHMA Saturday Opportunity Conference Call

Call Information
Sat., October 18, 2014
8:00 a.m. Pacific
9:00 a.m. Mountain
10:00 a.m. Central
11:00 a.m. Eastern
DIAL: 212-990-8000
(PIN: 6262#)
A cosmetologist, a teacher, a brick and mortar store owner and a substance abuse prevention professional...what do they all have in common? They’re all women who chose to create a better life for themselves and their families by building a business with Shaklee.

Tune in to hear their powerful stories on Project MAHMA  this Saturday.

Our host is Cindy, from Kansas. From a Cosmetologist to State Director for a non-profit, Cindy has a passion for helping others achieve what they want. But a life altering event on 9/11 turned her focus toward family and what's really important in life. Then she found Shaklee, which proved to be the vehicle that helped her spend more time with family by working from home while also helping two sons with college expenses.

Joining Cindy on Saturday are Maria, TX; Elena, NM; and Linda, KS

Maria was considering going back to work in the corporate world when she was presented with the Shaklee opportunity. Now, six years later, she's celebrating another successful year full-time with Shaklee! Maria's background is varied and interesting. She has a BBA, spent seven years at an Architectural firm, and worked in Substance Abuse Prevention as well as Product Sales for the Girl Scouts. She is very passionate about health and wellness and is currently a Reiki Master Practitioner. She is committed to removing barriers in health and well-being so that others shine at whatever they pursue in life.

Elena was an elementary teacher and mother of two daughters when she began her Shaklee business in 1979!  As a single mom with no child support, she decided that she wanted to serve the world in the ‘bigger classroom’ of life.  As Dr. Shaklee said, ‘Our life is what we think to make it.” And she decided that her deepest fear was not that she was inadequate, but that maybe she contained within herself the ability to live each day to the fullest and that ‘playing small’ did not serve her daughters and the world. Elena’s 35 years career with Shaklee as an Executive Coordinator has been focused on helping her downline build beliefs and skill competencies.

At 50 years young, Linda had always been self-employed, but she was running out of options. She and her husband Roy had been notified by their corporate partner that the merchant store they owned would be closing. Add to that, her husband had quit his job after losing much of his vision from diabetes complications. The Shaklee income opportunity came along right when they needed it, giving them a full-time income working part-time.*

Know moms and dads looking for more fun, freedom and flexibility for themselves and their families? Invite them to tune in to the Project MAHMA Saturday Opportunity Call to hear the stories of families who are creating lives they love with Shaklee!

Hosting Saturday is Jude Peskuski (Senior Key Coordinator, TX and Project MAHMA founder).

Jude is the proud mom of two wonderful boys, John and Jay. She began what she refers to as her "Sesame Street hobby" back in 1981, earning $500 a month. As Jude says, "Shaklee has been the vehicle for me to have more dreams come true than I ever imagined. I've traveled to Hawaii eight times and visited Australia, Hong Kong, Europe and the Southern Caribbean on the Dream 2013 incentive cruise!" Today Jude, along with her Project MAHMA co-founder husband, Jack, earns a six-figure income* and loves contributing to people's health and well-being and making their dreams come true.*

Joining Jude this week for a unique call representing a combined 140 years of experience with Shaklee are:
Gerri Stiner (Senior Executive Coordinator, NJ)
Helene Kovalcik (Coordinator, NJ)
Kim Soto (Distributor, TX) and her mother Mary Sue
Patti Gibbons (Member, NJ)

Gerri and her husband Olaf have been with Shaklee for thirty-four years. Prior to Shaklee Gerri was a teacher, social worker and her last position was in finance with American Airlines. Gerri and Olaf have enjoyed many trips all over the world with Shaklee and 10 Shaklee bonus cars. They have two sons, and thanks to Shaklee, Gerri was able to build to a six figure* income while being at home with her two sons.

Helene is a long time Shaklee Business Leader who was a college professor and joined Shaklee many years ago when she was looking to improve her health.

Kim is a group fitness instructor, mom and wife. She first started using Shaklee products in high school when her mom ran a business out of their home. After her daughter was born in 2006, Kim became interested in the Shaklee income opportunity and the opportunity to lose the baby weight with Shaklee 180®. Thanks to Shaklee 180®, Kim lost 40** pounds and has kept it off! Now in the best shape of her life, Kim teaches cardio dance classes and is a certified personal trainer. “With Shaklee, I learned I can positively impact my health and well-being in every way, and I want the same for everyone,” says Kim. “That’s what I want for my students and clients, it’s more important than a good work out.”

Patti is a wife, mom and scientist who recently retired from one of the largest pharma companies in the country. She has been a faithful Shaklee product user for over 30 years.

Exercise for Brain Health

From Shaklee Health Wise

Exercise for brain health

If you are looking to banish “brain fog,” forget your forgetfulness, and even support a better mood, then look no further than your running shoes. Exercise, it turns out, is an outstanding way for you to protect (or even enhance) your brain’s health.

Exercise is so powerful at helping the brain, scientists are suggesting that exercise can decrease cognitive decline, and it may even help you recover some function that you might feel you have lost. So, if you find yourself searching everywhere for your keys, struggling to remember names, or just feeling that you aren’t as sharp as you once were, then your first stop should be your local gym.

When you are looking to keep your brain fit and functional, then make sure you include both physical and mental exercise.

Physical exercise

For optimum brain health, you need both regular and moderately intense exercises.

Regular exercise means doing something aerobic (such as walking, jogging, swimming, or biking) at least 3-4 times a week (more is better) and moderate-intensity exercise is the type of exercise where you push yourself to new limits. For example, when walking, instead of a leisurely stroll, try to push yourself and pick up the pace. The key here is to breathe a little hard, but not hard enough that it is difficult for you to carry on a conversation.

As always, if you are starting an exercise program, check with your health care provider and start slowly.

Regular exercise improves circulation throughout the body, including the brain. More blood means more nutrients and oxygen-rich blood going to your brain. Laboratory studies have demonstrated that exercise influences the synthesis and release of several neurotransmitters (such as norepinephrine, serotonin, GABA, and acetylcholine) and enhances the production of a growth factor called brain-derived neurotrophic factor

Exercise is good for the whole body and it helps to maintain healthy blood pressure, improves energy, helps lower stress and anxiety, improves mood, is good for heart health, and helps you maintain a healthy weight—all of which are beneficial for YOU and your brain.

Mental exercise

Your mental capacity is no different from the rest of your body: you have to use it or lose it.

Part of creating your own brain fitness program is to stimulate your brain on a regular basis. When you do this, you increase and strengthen neural connections inside your brain, a process known as neuroplasticity.

What can you do to stimulate your brain?

Social engagement, crossword puzzles, completing challenging tasks, trying brain games or anything new, doing something differently, all stimulate your brain. You can even try brushing your teeth or eating with the opposite hand.

Just like the rest of your body, your brain needs your attention to keep it performing well throughout your whole life.

Be well!
