The Trick After The Treat

Now, right after Halloween is when we see a surge in ear infections, colds, flu and other respiratory infections in children.

The link is the increase intake of sugar.

Sugar lowers the immune system making us more susceptible to illness and infection because there just aren't enough "good guys" to fight off the bad guys.

Plus, the ammo they use - the good nutrients from good nutrition, is missing.

The best way to keep your children and yourself healthy in addition to good handwashing is to eat healthy and exercise.

Candy may be overflowing in our houses right now, but counter it with healthy choices.

Teach kids it's OK to have a sweet treat now and then as long as they counter it with some of Nature's candy like fruits and fun veggies.

Teach them that the good food strengthens the good guys so they can fight the bad guys and the good food helps the body to be strong enough to handle the bad guys candy onslaught that makes the good guys weak.

In addition to eating more fruits and vegetables, Probiotics, Fiber, B Vitamins and drinking lots of filtered water helps to counteract the damaging effects of too much sugar.

You can also stash some of the candy loot to occasionally indulge at different times later. This way your kid won't overdose on the sugar.

Help your kids stay healthy for life by teaching them the skills they need to make healthy choices on their own.

It's not always easy, but it is always worth it.
